Behold the beautiful cucumber! Believed to be native to India, adored by the Romans and brought to the new world by the Spanish.  I was caught in a moment of fascincation when I lifted this slice to the light – this is what I thought, “So often I look out into the world and the world feels like a elaborate construction of mirrors.” (voiced in a narrator sort of way)

“When we try to pick out anything by itself, we find it hitched to everything else in the Universe.” – John Muir
