The images above and below are stills from Irina Arnaut’s Working Title. I first saw the video at Bard last summer when Irina showed it as part of her thesis presentation. The video is funny, contemplative, and reflective of the creative process in many ways. It makes me think about the nature of performance as well as the various roles we play as women and artists.

The video has no introduction and is accompanied by this quote:

Let us place ourselves entirely into our ephemeral role, in the subtlety of its nuances, as well as the fits of fury that sweep it away. Let us feel think and act with all of our energy. We must be ourselves, but our whole selves, and (this is the hardest part) without ever becoming the dupes of ourselves.   (Romain Rolland)
