I am excited to share about my adventures in birdwatching in our yard.  I have had two different bird feeders and for some reason the birds wouldn’t eat out of them.  Then when I was making some bird seed ornaments and had them out to dry on the patio the birds started to eat them.  In the interim between making a cool bird plate feeder thingy I have a bowl filled with seeds on the ground.

Today I was looking outside and noticed this sweet bird (I think it is a Fox Sparrow, Passerella iliaca) on the ground.  I picked it up (with a baggie around my hands) and it’s eyes slowly closed.  I wanted to cry but nothing came out.  I made photographs then wrapped it in a eucalyptus bark coffin and left it in a nearby tree.

Goodbye sweet birdie.
