I always dread the treadmill feeling of Highway 5 up to Northern California.  It is the quickest but man, the most boring except for the Tule Elk Reserve, The Vista Point with the overflowing trash bin and the swallow nests under all the freeway overpasses.  Cliff Swallows are protected under the federal Migratory Bird Treaty Act of 1918.
