Recently I had an amazing day in San Francisco with friends (hi C & T and of course Serge!).  Our day activities were largely influence by the super rad Kimberley of The Year In Food blog.  She sent me a whole bunch of suggestions and now I pass them along to you! Thank you sweet K!

We started the day by picking out delicious food, fruits, beverage and chocolates at the Bi-Rite Market.  We had a picnic in Dolores park under the shade of a tall tree amongst some real goofs.  (I was really secretly hoping that we would see GIRLS laying out there on the grass but we didn’t… forever hopeful) We all saved room for a scoop of ice cream at the Bi-Rite creamery.  Oh  man… that was delicious and refreshing.  We got lucky because there wasn’t a line and there is always a long line every time I have passed by that spot.

We then went to the DeYoung to see the Jean Paul Gaultier show and Real to Real: Photographs from the Traina Collection.  I can’t say enough good things about sharing the experience of the Gaultier show with friends.  There were so many stunning, intriguing and provocative works featured that I really don’t know if I can select a few to highlight here.  So many sashay in my mind.  This show is only up until August 19th so hurry and go!

The Real to Real was awesome – especially since 3 out of the 4 in our group are photographers.  They had some of my favorites from Alec Soth to Eggleston to Andreas Gursky.  Photography is the best.  This show closes September 16th.

We finished up at a bar/cafe, drinks in hand and stories to be told.

(late night when it was just me and serge we walked over to City Lights Books and boy did I have to set limits. That bookstore is one of the best around.  I love their selection and the stuffy warmth of the lower floor.
