Part of my job is to research trends in fashion, art, design, food, technology etc. and the first place I always look to is Lidewij Edelkoort.  She is an independant trend consultant and one of the coolest people.  I admire her style and her love of life – ““I am always scanning. That’s how I can see things that are latent, that are sleeping in society and get early information.” If you want to know the latest and greatest definetely check out her site Trend Tablet.

From the website:

Lidewij Edelkoort is a trend forecaster, curator, publisher and educator who constantly lives in the future. Studying the links between art, fashion, design and consumer culture, Edelkoort!s work has pioneered trend forecasting as a profession, providing design and lifestyle analysis for the world!s leading brands. Since 1992, her magazines (View on Colour, InView and Bloom) have been highly influential in the creative industries.

Recently, her work has evolved into the realms of education at the Design Academy Eindhoven where she was Chairwoman from 1999 to 2008, humanitarianism within the Heartwear craft foundation she co-founded in 1993, and curatorial work as she delves into the art and design domain, illuminating museums and exhibits around the world. In 2008, the French Ministry of Culture honoured her as a Chevalier des Arts et des Lettres and the Dutch Royal Family named her a Knight in the Order of Oranje Nassau. 2009 saw the launch of Archeology of the Future, a retrospective seen in Paris and Eindhoven, highlighting Edelkoort!s forecasting as a landmark medium of social commentary over the last twenty years.

As for the image I was thinking about the internet and how much controversy there is over images etc just being used on blogs/tumblr/pinterest etc. without permission.  So the image is a mirror image of a portrait of Lidewij Edelkoort found on Trend Tablet.  I cancelled my Pinterest after reading articles about copyright and misusing people’s images and you know how much I loved Pinterest.  It is a dilemna cause I want to share things but I don’t want to be sued.  I want to do the right thing but I also want to do the wrong thing.

What do you think?
